Default Reconnecting Drive Shaft Issues -Questions

I have issues, and therefore questions.

My truck is an 07 GMC Crew Cab Dually Duramax. Back in Nov or so I hit a telephone poll with the passenger rear tire, and tore the rear axle off of the spring. The rear drive shaft also pulled out of its place with the front shaft at the mid carrage and I am having quite the time getting it back on.

We took the brackets off of the rear connect where the u joint bearings sit, took the drive shaft off of the rear and began to slide it up on the front shaft. But we had to use a cro-bar to get it to go any where.

We have it nearly to the point where the rear bearing will clear the ring, but it will take another 1 1/2 inch to be able to seat the ujoint bearings into their brackets, and I don't think I am going to get it the way I am doing it now.

I thought that perhaps air was being trapped inside the shaft end, cause it to be difficult to slide back on, but I am beginning to wonder if there isn't a simple trick to this.

Is there a trick ton getting this shaft to slip back on without so much resistance?

Thank you for your help.

Tim

sounds to me like something is bent on the carrier you shouldn't have to beat on it at all to get it to slide int i have taken many drive shafts off and have never had this problem i would take it all off and take the drive shaft to a shop and have then look at it and see what is really wrong.

Thanks Guys,

I have decided to have it taken to a garage and let them mess with it.
