yea a good performance exhaust, and an intake should do the trick! i dont know if they make programmers for them or how well they do compared to diesels, but you can look into that. im not sure if the rewards out-weigh the initial cost of the programmer as it does with diesels by giving better gas mileage

Sorry I didn't get back to y'all. I decided that ill see what I can do about the price; before I do, I forgot to add, that when I started it up @ the dealership, it sounded great exept for a slight whining noise, could anyonetell me what that may be. And thanks for all of the replies!! Keep em comin!

not sure what the noise is, but my buddy has a 1998 2 door tahoe with the 5.7 in it. makes the same whining noise that your talking about. might just be how they were?
or maybe theres a common problem with a vacuum or air leak of some sort. who knows

if you do figure out the whining noise let me know, ill check out my friends tahoe and fix his also

Gulp gulp gulp gulp gulp gulp gulp gulp gulp BUUUURRRP! Thats the sound of the gas tank while youre filling up, pulling your trailer, with that rig. The 5.7 is a good engine, but it can get thirsty when pulling a load. Hill climbing will be an adventure and quite an eye opener. you may also want to look into airbags to help your rear suspension, and keep things level. Just a thought.
