If you want to bullet proof an LMM duramax the mileage is pretty low so if it's mechanically sound it's a great buy!

Emission delete tuning will help with longevity on this truck and you can do the EGR blocker plate to eliminate the EGR from opening up under load.

DSP-5 switch w/ EFI live on a stock trans safe tunes you are are golden!

I've popped mine out and replaced them. There's nothing different or special about them. I put in adjustable upper ball joints to get back some caster after cranking the torsion bars. It was an easy DIY with a free loaner tool from Autozone. Either yours were somehow damaged, or the shop had other motives.
