I have a 99 cummins and I usually have it plugged in but it will start in -40* temps. I have an afe stage 2 intake MBRP 4" exhaust and an edge comp box. I just put the bombs on recently and average 21 MPG right now with about 60% city 40% highway and have been known to do some spirited driving. I get the 21 MPG even with letting my truck warm up for at least 15 minutes in the winter and in the summer I usually get 3 or 4 mpg better.

Oh and comp box usually set to 3

I have a 93 7.3 L idi non turbo and the motor is as reliable as they get. The big problem is the rest of the truck has had the crap beet out of it. I only get between 10-12 ,pg doing anything hammerdown or slow and easy.

it usually sees 450-500hp with little to no issues. mine has only had a fan clutch sieze up but that can happen to any engine anytime!
ya but now us cummins guys get the efi live for our trucks, and when my truck had only the powermax exhaust cold air and turbo it put 466 and 1250ftlb torque pretty far from the 300 mark

so... you used the following.

1.) powermax programmer (max +190rwhp)
2.) exhaust
3.) cold air intake
4.) turbo

to put down 466/1250..

how much did the new transmission cost?

ps. thats a lot of work to gain 100hp and 600ftlb on my truck stock....

I can get 475rwhp from my truck with about 10 mins of loading a new tune, nothing else.......

It would need a transmission upgrade if i abused it too much but its entirely possible to drive it like that for a long time on the stock trans before it needs work

to get 500rwhp i would need a lift pump, and a trans upgrade and I would be there all day

well all i had to put in was a clutch, powermax is not that aggressive of a chip and the other stuff is just minor, but cummins people never had the efi live to work with like you duramax people for to long 03 and up cummins will have them and i said this because you said exhuast, chip, and cai was needed to see 300 well your wrong and that was on the dyno at scheid not the dyno jet, i took the powermax off this year and ran the smarty and came in 7th for torque and 8th for hp with hardly anything done it made 491 and 1240 ftlb tq out of every truck that went on scheids dyno there was 2 chevys and 8 dodges in the top 10, just look on scheids dyno results for saturday

and every truck pull has 80 cummins powered dodges and they usually lose to 2 of the 4 chevy's that show up.

ya the only big duramax that i know of that is toward the top everytime is the cummins killer which i have to say is very well built and is almost a piece of artwork i do like to see that truck pull and appreciate the work thats put into it, but i didn get on here to get in a pi$$ing match i was jus proving a point that cummins and duramax are equal competitors its just whoever has the most money to put in there truck, saying that no offense to powerstrokes but i usually dont expect much more out of a ford than to look good
