PPE makes an centrifugal oil filtration kit, looks pretty cool, synthetic oils dont break down nearly as fast as conventional oil, but rather its the soot and contaminants that will do the damage to your engine, an oil bypass kit helps to eliminate that, therefore you can extend your oil change intervals, as long as you test your oil to see how its performing, you could go... 20000, 30000, 100000 as long as the oil is still doing its job

Yep. That's what I referred to. Filter the oil really well. Get that soot out of it and then realize the benefits of synthetic in terms of long lasting viscosity and quality.

under 5,000 is a waste of money IMO, but thats just me.

The factory reccomendation for normal oil for a Duramax is 10,000. I do between 5,000 and 7,000 on our farms stock trucks.

On my truck I change it every mile or so.

Its not necessarily the oil that goes bad, trucks go hundreds of thousands of miles on the same oil.

I agree, Chevron Delo 400 syn whenever the DIC gets to about 10-15%.... it gets a new fuel, oil and spin on trans filter at that time as well

Default fart smellers!

i belive everyone has their own opinions, beliefs, and stories, overall we seem to have a very educated group of people here thats great! i know diesels run cleaner so intervals can be longer its incedible to hear 20,000 +, i also belive in 5,000, the oil always looks good enough to run in an oil consumer, the type of oil used seems to make differences to me does anyone use lucas? i use max life in EVERYTHING, exept polaris and harley,i use lucas motorcycle oil in it it stopped the leaks!
