i go 5 thousand on my ole 1st gen you ought to go by what your owners manual says but heres some more info too https://www.dieselbombers.com/ford-p...-best-oil.html

I go 3 thousand. But the recomended is 5000 for diesels. So between there.

I was thinking the 06 was somewhere between 5-7.5k. With the amsoil, you can run 3x the OEM interval, which is 15-20k approx. This is doable. I just changed mine at 27,000. I test it every 5-7k and it was finally getting a litle built up in soot, up to 3.5%. 5 is the threshold but decided to change it anyway.
If you ran the filter too, you can do 15k intervals with them both. That's a nice distance and makes it worthwhile.

thanks hey heath trying to figure out who would test my oil any suggestions i know im in a diffrent place than you dont know of any body that i could get that done by and what do you have them look for in the oil samples

Actually most people have to sample it and send it off. Not many can find a lab locally. Blackstone labs is very popular and we do have a testing center as well..Oil Analyzers. Those kits are order thru amsoil.
Our comes with a TBN, but I think you have to request it with Blackstone. TBN is a good number to see. It dictates the life of the oil as far as acid fighting ability. Once it drops to about 2, it's time to change it out.
Other indicators are wear metals to make sure excessive wear is not occuring. They also measre contaminats as well as water and fuel dilution.
OA's are a good idea at least as a one time check to see how things are progressing and make sure nothing strange is going on.

With synthetic, I'd go 12-15k. Here is my oil analysis results with the oil change intervals/miles.

I go 5k w/ Rotella T also and I would too, with Amsoil unless I had better filtration than stock. I think Amsoil makes something that has two filters sort of like a FASS fuel system, but for oil obviously.

Any oil you run will become contaminated with soot so I think (correct me if I am wrong) the emphasis should be more on the filtration than the oil. Right?:humm:
