Question FUEL FILTER PROB! HELP ASAP!

So have had my LLY for a couple of months now, bone stock, except for the intake resinator has been removed and pluged. But anyways, root of tthe problem. twice now the bottem of my fuel filter has come unscrewed. now when i say bottem i mean the bottem cap of the filter (i guess bleeder port assembly and cap maybe what its called) anyway. Im thinking i just need to reseal it, but it also could be a temperature factor cause it is 20 degrees here and the seals are constricting. I was wondering if there is any aftermarket parts i can get to either fix the problem or get rid of the "bottem cap" all together. any help will do. i need info fast cause im about to do a 1200 mile trip in my truck from abilene tx to columbus ohio. i cant aford my truck taking a **** in this cold weather with my wife and 16 month old in it with me.

Your referring to the Water In Fuel(WIF) sensor, I have never had this problem up here where it gets to -40F

You can get a new WIF sensor or you can get a plug to just eliminate the WIF sensor if you plan to get an aftermarket liftpump filter system like FASS or AirDog2

MA WIF Plug < plug
Duramax WIF Sensor < WIF sensor

I would change Fuel filters and see if that eliminates the problem, If not then I suggest just getting a new WIF sensor if you dont have an aftermarket filter system

thank you much, i was wondering if they just made a plug for it. yeah im not sure whats going on. it seems like it everytime i tighten it, it loosenes. i noticed that if i tighten it to much it pops out, like it is a over torque preventitive. well thank you very much deffinately going to order the MA plug

both the Filter and the WIF sensor are only plastic, so if you tighten it too much it will probably strip the threads of both

I also recommend that unless you are running a system like the FASS or Airdog that you retain the WIF, but its really up to you, if you feel better about the plug then all the power to you

That o-ring on the WIF sensor is super thick. I can't see how it would constrict enough to become loose. I've never heard of this happening either. I'd say put a new filter on, (it comes with a new o-ring) and tighten it down good.

Install a new filter with both new O-rings. If your WIF sensor is stripped, you're gonna need a new one.
