does anyone know about how many years its warranty, i have only 61k miles but the trucks an 04.5 and my stepper motor went out (had the same thing happen on my SS silvy at 100k and cost me 500$ to fix) i was taking it in this week to get it alighned and wanted to know if they could do it for basically free i guess, if not part number on ebay for the stepper motor?

408.Luke I have an 04.5 and Mine went out a few months ago at 75000 just take it to the dealer tell them its the speedometer and they should do yours for nothing i had to pay the labor which was 75.00. But you are right it is 500 bucks or so to fix otherwise. Also remember that Chevy warranties all their work for a year or 12,000 miles i believe it is because about 3 months after they put the new one in mine it went bad again and it was fixed completely free. Mines running fine again. Hope the info helped.

Ive got the new stepper motor i just need to put it in, I really dont want to go to the dealer ship cus they will find a 100 things wrong then probably refuse to work on it cus blah blah blah... but just search silverado stepper motor on ebay a guy there sells the new model in sets of 1, 6 (for the gas trucks) and 7 (for the duramax because of the trans temp gauge) i bought one and it was like 10$ shipped, instructions are also included and its not suppose to fail like some of the other stepper motors being sold.

07187C -- SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER GAUGE NEEDLE FUNCTION
Special Coverage Adjustment
This special coverage covers the condition described above for a period of 7 years or 70,000 miles (110,000 km), whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership.
Dealers are to replace the instrument panel cluster after the condition has been verified. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.
For verified failures between 70,001 miles (110,001 km) and 80,000 miles (130,000 km) on U.S. vehicles, dealers are to provide the customer with an instrument panel cluster (IPC) only. Any additional costs, including labor to replace the instrument panel cluster, will be the responsibility of the customer. Dealers are responsible for the return of the customer's IPC back to the Electronic Service Center.
For vehicles covered by Vehicle Service Contracts, all eligible claims with repair orders on or after September 28, 2007 for 2003-2004 model year vehicles, and March 23, 2009 for 2005 model year vehicles, are covered by this special coverage and must be submitted using the labor operation codes provided with this bulletin. Claims with repair orders prior to September 28, 2007 for 2003-2004 model year vehicles, or March 23, 2009 for 2005 model year vehicles, must be submitted to the Service Contract provider.
