My dad's 05 gmc has been goning through turbos lately 2 in the last year the check engine come on the dealer put a selnoid in it and clears codes light pops back on then it's new turbo time what could be causing this? It doesn't get drove that much I was wondering he will start the truck back it out of the shop shut it off then hours later start it and pull it back in could this be the cause of it.

 

Turbo's are NOT a known problem with the DMax. Maybe with the lack of use the variable veins kind of 'froze' or stuck in place......who knows.

 

Gonna have to agree with Russell. If its not getting used your vanes are going to get stuck. What codes is it throwing?
