Hello All,

My dad has a 2001 extended cab truck with around 160k miles on it. He had issues with the injectors for about the last 6 months. It would give a slight haze at idle and wasn't noticeable when driving down the road. No fuel in the Oil or coolant. I'm assuming that once or more of the injectors just has a small leak directly in to the cylinder. It was running when he parked it one day and the very next it wouldn't start at all.

My assumption here is that since he drove the truck on bad injectors they caused the injection pump to go out.

Are there any codes that this would throw? I'm planning on buying the truck from him middle of this month and want know what I'm getting myself into.

Additionally, is there any value in the motor in this truck? I've been chewing over pulling the motor out and putting a 24v p-pumped cummins in it that I'm building for my dodge.. My only concern here is controlling the allison transmission.

 

Dodge didn't put an Allison Trans in their trucks. Typically 24v VP44 injectors don't go bad. Its more than likely a VP44 issue.
