Seems as i get this issue every winter.I know its my NSBU switch. I don't get it in wet weather normally(ie. summer rain, or puddles in the road) but i think i get it in the winter because every time it happens there is a chunk of frozen sh$t up on the tranny support right against the switch. This time i can't seem to make it stop but i don' t have anyplace inside to park it for it to dry out good. I've taken the plugs off cleaned them the best i can sprayed with WD-40 to displace the water. I've gone so far as to almost empty a can on and around the switch itself thinking there might be a cracked seam in the switch itself allowing moisture in. no luck.engine light still on and tranny code p0700 keeps coming bback
If i shift right down to 1st even if i can't get any other gear i can engage tranny and shift up to 3rd but that is as far as i can go.
Also my shift indicator has not been illuminated now for over a year. This i have learned is another symptom of a bad switch.
Finally, my question is has anyone else had these problems and was it completely resolved by changing out this switch or are they always susceptible to the moisture because of design and will my indicator come back also?

 

I have a 2003 SLT and it has Shift Range Inhibited and will not shift out of First when it happens. I will shut it off and restart it and it shifts fine, with engine light on. The next time I shut it off say 5 miles down the road and restart it after sitting 15 mins it will have no engine light and everything is normal. I replaced the NSBS last year. I did have a idler bearing go on my serpentine belt that threw the belt and it got wrapped up around the fan and no telling what else it hit when it was thrown and all this happened right after that.?
