Injector?? I am conf!
I have a 01 3500 with 80k, all of a sudden it started to run rough and my fuel milage went to nothing, oil pressure went up and fuel and oi; started spraying and dripping all under truck.
took it in to local shop (not dealer) and they said injectors ($4,500.00). i dont have the $ (contractor and the economy s!@k's) so i took it home. I am pretty handy (very good two stroke guy! and done my fair share of gen main stuff) and going to do it myself thank to the walkthru i found on this site.
my questions are:
if one or two are bad does that mean the rest? are not far behind. change just bad ones or all? i know it is a Pain in the A!@ but am willing to save the money within reason though! if the odds are not good will go for it all.
how can you tell which ones are the bad ones? is this somthing only the dealer can do? how much will they charge just to test and tell me which ones? i already started to take apart but not to far along, will put it back and take it if i have too.
the mech shop told me the oil al over bottom of truck was just cause the oil was overfull and comming out of the overflows etc,, but doing some looking around here and maybe i blew some seals.. which is it and should i be afraid!!
can i check the injectors with a pressure guage and compressed air (90lbs) once they are out or does it not work that way..
Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated.

The work required to get down to the injectors is alot, and once your down there it only takes a little bit to do each bank of injectors after that.
You can do a balance rate test to see which one are bad sometimes, also you can check your fuel system like this: https://www.dieselbombers.com/chevy-...ssure-side.htm

is there a way to insure that the cups dont come out. i will buy that Kent-moore puller if it will do this..
WI the reman injectors you have are reman from whom?? are they the ones redone by Bosch?? i was told that the remans fail (pensicola) and dont really want to do this two times before it moves a foot!

Where are you located?
As mentioned by others. the injectors are not difficult, just a lot of bolts ... pulling a cup is not a big deal, just clean, reseal (with new O-Rings) and you are back in business ...drain your coolant first and you won't have a huge mess ...

will pulling the drain on bottom of rad drain the coolant out of the motor as well or just the rad? do i have to blow it out somehow? if so how

I agree with what everyone has said so far...
I would recommend replacing all 8 injectors while you are at it.
I have done injectors on both of my LB7's and can say it is not all that bad of a job...Just takes time!
