the wiring on my trailer is fine i had it tested.

i have a 02 chevy 2500hd 6.0L

i check the trailer plug in the back, the left blinker/ brake does not have power.
i unplugged it on the back of the plug and greased the connection with dielectric grease...
still nothing.
i greased the other plugs on the cross member in rear of truck, all connections looked good and clean.

still no power to left blinker or brake. trailer fuse under the hood has power to it.

where else do i look?

 

Bad ground?

 

my positive connection on the trailer plugs didn't seem to have power either would that have anything to do with it?

 

This may be stupid, but if it's anything like the Dodge, they have separate fuses. Start there.

Power to the fuse is one thing, power through the fuse is another.

 

yeah, i have 2 sets of fuses, on set in the cab, but the trailer fuses are under the hood.
all are good

 

Are they all "visually" good or have you checked them with a meter? I have had a rash of blown fuses the last couple months that looking at them they look fine but when you test them they are blown. If you dont have a meter o ahead and swap em out, they are cheap and then you will be positive they are fine. I chased a back up light problem on teh tool truck for two hours before I tested teh fuse and found it was bad. LOOK PERFECT!

 

Well, It's a little Off Topic, but you can probably get some cream for that...

 

There are multiple fuses under hood and dr side dash that control the trailer lights. That's a first check with a test light. If you have power there, test light the connections in the back, report back and we can troubleshoot from there. Are you checking everything with a test light??

+ fuse is under hood "stud B" or "Aux B" check for power there or blown fuse or the + connection at the trailer connector.

 

i only have one "stud" checked Good with test light
checked "aux" tests good
connections at trailer no power at left brake/blinker unplugged rear connection and greased with dielectric.. still does not work.

where should i check next?

ok, i got it!
i found a broken wire on the back "yellow wire"

ok, now today all the sudden i have an other problem, my battery on the trailer is hooked to the charging system, now that has seemed to now be working the "positive"
connection.

i went to tow a car today and the winch didn't have enough juice to pull it up on.
so i had to use a 2 come-along's to get it on. took me almost an hour what a pain in the butt that was.

what fuse would be for the "positive" on the trailer harness??

 

Sounds like the hazard flasher is bad. Had the same probelm on my 04 silverado. 56.00 from factory motor parts. You will have to pull the dash panels off it is located by the steering column
