Default unusual rattle in engine

Guys just wondering here but on my 02 dmax I seem to here a slight raddle (Other than the deisel motor raddle) when the engine is cold then it seems to go away after about 5 or so miles on the engine. Kinda sounds like maybe valve adjustment or maybe turbo raddle. everything is tight on the engine as far as I can tell. Seem to raddle at 1500 rpm and when you get on her the sound goes away until you start cruiseing at about 1500rpms or alittle more. Then you start hereing that raddle again until the engine gets warm. Performance wise it seems fine. I had a egde j/a on the truck but I curently have it off for repairs. I didn't have the truck too long but it didn't raddle when I got it. Just wondering what you guys think this could be. It is kinda annoying I would like to get it solve. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

I think if it was in the turbo you would be able to tell in performance. Whats the weather like there? Temp wise.. Do you have a stock exhaust? Alot of times at a certain RPM, you can hear exhaust parts rattle.

Does it only do it in gear when moving? Or does it do it while in park as well?

If it makes the rattle while in park, try having a friend hold the truck at the 1500 RPM, and pop the hood, and see what you can find.

Let us know what you find, and surely someone will have an idea on how to make it stop.

I had my Pa stand outside and listen before the first post and he didn't here anything. Dosen't seem to be exhaust at all. Seem to only do it when the truck is under a light load. Temp wise it is about 40 in the morning and 65 during the day and it still dosen't make a different it still makes that sound. Its not a tick more of a raddle. Seems to do it when the truck dexcellerates between shifts too. Only seems to do it when the engine is cold, after it is good and warmed up it dosen't do it. Let me know what you guys all think, Thanks for any help.

check your balance rates, or get the checked.

is the rattle have some relation to the throttle? or does it make the same rattle no matter what throttle position over a broad rpm range. and if it does does it increase with rpms?

The rattle isn't real loud eather, Seem to be be throttle sensitive too at a certain RPM range. It gos away with more excelleration until you let up on it. (I am just saying this) But it Kinda sounds like a loose rockerarm it makes that kinda noise in the cab. But as soon as you get the truck warmed up it goes away, but it takes 5+ miles first. Let me know what you think. Thanks

since its an 02 im guessing you got a sticky/slow solenoid in the injector body. u need to find somebody to check the balance rates on the injectors.

7 year/200k mile. some 02's might not be covered by it since its the last year for the warranty on them.
