im a gm mechanic and we change probably 2 intermediate steering shafts a week, and were a small dealership so u can tell its a common problem. a quick fix a packing them w/ grease but it'll come back. to tell if this is the problem just drive slow and turn the wheel and u should hear and maybe feel a little clunking noise.

I heard if you pull it apart and put red rtv in instead of grease it will seal from moisture and is self lubricating

should be....
i'm not telling my boss., i noticed when i drove his truck he can figure it out for him self.

my mother in law is one of those funny people. i dunno she just wont get it fixed.
even is warranty does pay for it. she'll drive it until it's broke by the warranty is out and she'll have to pay for it. she has health insurance though work has problems but never has them looked at.. the funny thing is the works at the hospital so she doesn't even have to go anywhere.
her roof started leaking from back up ice, she knew it needs replacing.
i cleared the roof. and offer to help put on a new roof labor free. just buy what i need.
and i wanted my buddy to help he would have to be paid. $20 and hour.
we could have her whole roof done in a few days. but she's decided to have home depot come do it. gonna cost her $6000

good chateau shingls i think are 75-100 a square. i see about 20 square so $2000 + for my buddys labor and other materials. max i see $4000 total but no more then that. ilike to over estimate to be on the safe side

people are wierd man....

Does it need to get fixed? My truck has that stupid clunk noise too...doesn't feel like the steering is affected at all, it just makes noise when I'm in the gym parking lot.

What's the difference between the two P/N's that No Problem posted?
