I agree 100% that's the old filter dad ran he used them ever since we got the truck. I'm trying to decide what's best I'm thinking about a cat filter or 1 micron filter or a lift pump what would you recamend?

according to some, the cat filters are the holly grail. 2 micron, higher capacity then the stock filter, low cost, easy to find, etc, etc. i've been wanting to do the switch but haven't got around to it yet.

there appears to be two ways to install one. a filter adaptor (Billet Aluminum OEM Filter Adapter, Nicktane) or a new filter head (Billet Aluminum Filter Head, Nicktane)

i want to do a new filter head and keep the OEM filter installed as a backup. i am actually running two Racor filters in parallel with two separate oem filter housings right now for increased capacity, lower fuel flow rate, lower resistance, but the idea of a cheaper filter that can do 2 microns makes me smile

I think I'll wait and see if she fires up and then I'll order a cat filter and adapter what do you think about making my own lift pump with a PPE pump and a cat filter and a nother cat filter by the engine?

i think it would be a good idea. i have a raptor 150 lift pump installed down by my fuel tank on the frame and the other filter up in the engine bay.

the raptor as worked perfectly for the several years i have had it installed. these are the same airdog pumps that you will find that have the filters installed on them but with out the filters and hundreds less. with the price difference you can put the money into better filtration

my plan is to finish it tomorrow and try to start it with a stock filter if it fires up I'm ordering a adapter and cat filter the only reason I want to wait and see if it cranks is so I'm sure it's fixed. where's a good place to tap a line or something for my boost gauge? I was thinking about putting a T on the turbo side of the PPE boost valve would that work?

yes that is a good spot. make sure you put it ahead of the boost valve, ie: closer to the turbo

I only let it spin for about 20 sec I didn't want to burn up the starter from not having enough power
