yes that sounds like an APPS, is there a service throttle soon or check engine light?

Sorry Guys, I'm new here today and I need help. I am having about the same problem with my 94 Chevy Silverado 6.5 Turbo. The truck is a 3500 crew cab. It starts and runs but I'm getting a surging problem and it's almost impossible to control the throttle. Taking off at a stop sign it wants to take off faster than it should and running down the road you can feel it surging and it will gradually gain speed, unless you let off the throttle completely. So like Dorian said, I either have throttle or I don't. When you let off the throttle it has the same feel as if you had the cruise control set and suddenly cancel it. At 55 - 60mph it will chug but it's never died.

I keep thinking Accelerator Pedal Position Module (guess that's APPS?). Somebody mentioned the turbo waste gate but I can't see that being the cause at low speeds. What do you think?

I am a 62 year old lady but I am not a total dummy about vehicles. I love my truck . It's what I always wanted, my country Cadillac!,and I can't drive it like this because it makes me entirely too nervous. Besides, I don't know what kind of damage I could do driving it like this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have checked on prices for the APPS and I can't afford a new one at all. My husband and I are retired and on a very fixed income. Is there anywhere you can buy the sensor by itself or do you always have to buy the pedal and sensor together? Or is there an online salvage anyone knows where I could get it cheap?

A year ago last January a drunk driver tried to hit us head on because he was mad at his girlfriend. He didn't hit us head on but he took out the whole drivers side of my truck. Knocked the duals back and broke the tie rod and literally tore up the whole side of my truck. Of course he had no insurance, no driver's license, no registration, and a known DWI offender. Just about broke my heart! Didn't think I would ever be able to drive it again but my husband put her back together and she was running as good as before until it started this!

A great big THANK YOU to anyone who can give me some advice and just for taking the time to read!

I just changed FDS/PMD the part that is normally mounted on the IP.but it had been moved behind the grill, that seemed to start clearing up the throttle problems, each time i start it up again it seems to be getting better... as far prices go I don't have a clue...they always ask me if the service engine soon light is on. mine was not and it sent no codes......

Thanks Adrian,

I have already changed the PMD and heat exchanger attached to it and relocated it to the wheel weld. I am thinking this is a different problem. Not at all the same symptoms I had associated with the PMD. That caused the Truck not to start, or if driving, it would just quit like you shut it off. The PMD corrected those problems.

Default Throttle issue

Hi,
I have posted a few times before and now I have another interesting problem
I have a 1996 chevey 3500 with a 6.5 turbo diesel. I had gone through the pmd and injecter cinerio a while back which wound up being a ground issue. MY Problem now is the
throttle ckt on the truck. It started out when I was sitting at a light idling, the truck for no reason throttled up as if someone stomped on the peddle!!! Luckely I had stepped on the brake peddle before I wound up in the back seat of the driver in front of me.
It throttled back down and I was able to drive it a few miles, but then it would start surging then slow down, surge and throttle down.
I shut down the truck and tried it later on again it then surged on me (accelerated)when I had a steady peddlle at 40 mph.It seems to happen when the truck warms up and it doesnt matter if the truck is in gear or park.It happens weather it is idling or throttled.
I have already replaced the accelerator position module on the peddle and swapped out the powertrain control module to only get the same results.I need to know what controls the throttle and or what else can cause this??
If anyone has overcome a similar problem, I would realy like to hear from you!! and when the problem is solved, I promise a return post as allways! SO PUT ON YOUR THINKING CAPS
AND HELP ME BEAT THIS PROBLEMANY INFORMATION IS WELCOMED.
Thanks guy's

Default Throttle issue

Figured it out! My pmd was approx 1yr old. I removed it from the heat sink and tied it infront of the radiator and I havnt had a problem again. I did put one on that was faulty and immediately the truck started surging. If you have a failing injection pump and a bad pmd, my experience is it would shut down (also bad ground) but on this occasion, my injection pump and pmd are less than a year old. My brthr-inlaw has the same truck and I pulled out the pcm and swapped it out with mine when it was surging. As soon as the truck warmed up it would start acting up. Somthing is singnaling the injecter pump to pump fuel and it is the pcm and or the pmd or the throttle position sensor. In my case the pmd was heating up so I need to put it in a place where there is more airflow then where I HAD INSTALLED BEFORE. It seems to me that it can also cause throttle problems when conditions are right.
If anything changes or if my assumption is wrong, I will post again, but it looks that way. I will know in a couple of days.
