Hey I have a 98 chevy k2500 6.5L TB and out of the blue today it died on me.... granted the engine has 231k on it but it ran fine before i keep it in good shape all that fuel pumps to the filter fine and it has a new filter. Batteries are new and fully charged no air blockage intake or exhaust. Is it just time for an overhaul or can I/ should I try to drop a new engine in if so what kind?

 

What do you mean by died on you?

 

Well every once and awhile it would start but it dies immediately after. Mostly it just doesnt start. I heard something about the injection pump or the pump master driver overheating because of its location. Thoughts?

 

last time i had this problem it was the pump mounted driver (pmd) It is a small box on the drivers side of the injector pump. if you get a new one make sure it is the latest gray colored one and mount it on a heat sinc on the intake ot on the wheel well below the master cylinder.

do you have any codes?

 

sounds like a pmd, can you hear your lift pump running, any leaks?
