Default Alternator belt on 6.2

Does anyone else have a problem with keeping the alternator belt on a 6.2 tight? I can only get around 500 miles on a belt (after re tightening at least once) before I have to replace because I run out of adjustment. I have gone to replacing with a 1/2" shorter belt so that I have more room to adjust which buys me a few more miles. I have also replaced the alternator even though the old one was charging well thinking the bearings might be worn, but I still have the problem.

What else can I do?

I have tried Gates, Auto Zone and O'reilly house brands. All with the same results.
