Default 1982 6.2 diesel won't prime or fire

Hey guys, new on here. I got a 1982 c10 with the 6.2 diesel in it a few days ago, guy I got it from said he ran it out of fuel. He put new fuel in it, and it wouldn't start back up. So when I got the truck, the first thing I did was try to prime it, I spent 8 hours cranking it over trying to get fuel at least to the fuel filters, nothing. Not a drop. I was thinking about trying to purge it by sticking a air nozzle into the filler neck, also, it has a brand new lift pump installed. Hoping you guys can give me some more ideas on things to try.

Is the pump coming on? do you have a line/bleeder loose to bleed the air near the filter bowl?
Welcome to DB

I will be honest, I don't hear any kind of electrical activity under the hood when I turn the key. I did however notice last night that both lines coming off of the lift pump were kinked up. Is the pump supposed to click? Or make some kind of noise?

82 should be a mechanical lift pump unless it's been converted to electric. A mechanical won't make any noise you can hear over cranking. You may want to pull it off and verify that it is a diesel pump. It wouldn't be the first time someone was sold a sbc pump by mistake. I believe the sbc pumps will bolt up but the "arm" length is different.

Yeah I knew the lift pump itself doesn't make noise, I was just curious if the IP did or not. Sorry, I should've clarified. It is the correct pump, I found both lines coming from it kinked and loose. So I'm hoping when I replace them, it will solve the issue!
