Default Stuck trying to change IP on 95 6.5 HELP

I am changing the IP and relocating the PMD on this 1995 Chevrolet truck. I have removed the plenum and intake manifold. Now I am trying to remove the injection lines, however there is a small heat shield on the passenger side of the engine and I cant get this off. It appears it needs to come off to remove the IP lines for cylinders 2,4,6,and 8. Somebody please tell me where I am going wrong. Do the IP lines have to be completely removed to remove the IP. Help and thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, they need to be removed. The heat shield may be fastened to the valve cover, or one of the head bolts. Try not to bend any of the lines to make room!!

Thanks guys. I should have mentioned that that heat shield is between the turbo and the exhaust manifold and I have removed the two screws holding it on. It will move about an inch but that is it. The injection lines are pretty old and I am fearful of causing a leak, and if it is on 2,4,6 or 8 I am screwed because I cant get to the injector side of the line. I know there has to be a way, because the injectors can't be replaced without removing the heat shield. I am about to take a hammer and a chisel to it.

i think there are 2 little 8mm bolts on top of the heat sheild and then two clips on the bottom that just pull off. then you have to take out the 2 center valve cover bolts to get the line bracket off. i think this is the same sheild i just took off my parts engine yesterday but it wasnt in a truck so it makes it a little easier. i will try to get a pics of it because i have the manifolds and everthing off. i think you are just hung up on the clips.

how do you post pics on here ?

I got the danged thing off. I don't understand how I could spend several hours trying to remove that heat shield and then remove it in 10 minutes today. I guess I must have been tired. My IP/PMD job is in the reassembly stage now. I must say to all you Chevrolet followers that the old ford IDIs were easier to change out the injection pump. This thing reminds me of a Japanese 4 wheeler in that you can see a part but you must take the whole thing apart to get to it. All in all it is going ok, I'm just venting and I really do appreciate all the help provided here. Thanks.

Thanks Crazy, I actually used your post as instructions for my changover. The only real problem that I had was that heat shield, but once it was removed the job went pretty straight forward. The only thing now that concerns me is that the truck turns over more than I think it should when it starts. I can't see any leaking injectors and no diesel is dripping off the engine. Would incorrect timing do that?
