change ignition tumbler

Default change ignition tumbler

I have 89 6.2 anyhow lost keys could be grandson not sure but how do I take tumbler out so I can put in new key set
Do I have to take steering wheel off or is there another way

You'll have to remove the steering wheel. Then the lock plate, which you need a tool to press it down to remove a snap ring. Once that's out of the way, a few screws to remove the turn signal cam/switch. Then a T30 torx bit to remove the lock screw, and out comes the tumbler.

Thanks I was afraid that would be the answer. not like the old ford. will have to see if I can find the steering wheel puller again
