okay so i stopped tonight put fuel in and then left and noticed a strange ticking noise but i thought i was just an exhaust leak until i got home opened the hood and could hear the noise through the intake. what could this be? to me it almost sounds like a cylinder isnt firing right but i havent lost any power. any ideas?

To better describe the sound i hear with the hood open its a hollow thumping noise like when you take a tube and tap the end with something flat.

 

sounds like the vaccumm pump to me. take your belt off and run the truck for like 30 secs and see if it goes away

 

Where is the vacuum pump located.........my truck is a 93 btw
