Default Slave Cylinder

Alright so I went to put my slave cylinder in and it doesnt fit. Like the rod doesnt compress back far enough to fit behind the throwout fork. i think it will fit if I could pry the fork back and slide the slave cylinder into place, but i feel like thats still too tight and that something is wrong. Are they supposed to be a b*tch to put in? or is something wrong? i was thinking the only thing wrong could be maybe a bent throwout/clutch fork. please help this is holding me back on the zf swap and i need to get it done.

Default Slave cylinder

I ran across something like this years ago in doing a clutch job on a Toyota. Everything went in ok and everything look ok pulled and reinstalled it 4 times figured out the clutch fork and pivot were worn replace them both and everything worked fine! Note even Toyota did not come up with the idea at one point they said it was a bad slave cyl. that check out fine. Also make sure you bleed it off too it is just like a brake cyl The Rod should be tight against the fork you might want to look at the spec. or see if ford will tell you how long the rod is to be is this a rebuilt? it is possible it is the wrong one if it is.

Is the slave hooked up to the master with fluid in the line? If so you will have to crack the bleeder screw to drain some fluid which will allow the rod to go in further. It sucks because then you have to bleed the system again.

If you get fluid out you may not have to bleed it again just like doing disc brakes you open the bleeder valve push the rod in and the fluid will squirt out close the bleeder valve so long as you have not run out of fluid in the master you should be ok. little hint if you do have to bleed the system again loose the cap before you start otherwise you can create a vacuum inside of the master and it can be a bear to get off!
