Yes it's got an TPS but I think on 6.2 it's just to tell the tranny when to shift, not share though but to think of it my tranny has ben shifting a lot later could that be related?

If you don't have o/d the only thing I know the tps would control on the trans is the kick down. I think that it does have to have the tps to run cruse control.

Default Throttle LInkage

Hello all. I was searching the web for info on 1983 Chevy Diesel 6.2's because I considering one for purchase when I came across thread. I dont know if it will help, but I had the same problem with by 1981 Mercedes 240d for the first 6 months that I owned it. It was a dog! I couldnt believe that Mercedes had made anything so slow for the American market! I tried everything! Tank and inline filters, blowing out the lines, new glow plugs, additives etc. I asked my friend who owns a european repair shop about it but I dont think he was very interested untill...he needed to borrow it because he crashed his car! Anyway, long story short...rubber bushings in the throttle linkage had rotted off. He replaced them with rubber washers and the damn car actually drives like a regular auto now!
