Default Swapping 6.2l diesel into 80' corvette

I already asked a question about vacuum and got that figured out. Another question I had is will I need to run the engine oil cooler? I wouldn't think I would since it is a light aerodynamic car and not that much strain will be put on the engine. If not can I just plug both lines that ran to the old cooler.?I'm wanting to run the stock corvette radiator for a 350. I think it should keep the engine cool enough. One more question, I am thinking about keeping the mechanical fuel pump but adding an electric one that is run off a toggle switch. That way I have the reliability of mechanical but can bleed air out easily with the electrical and the electrical could work as a backup. I don't want electrical as my primary because I have it on my ford 460 and the pump went bad and left me walking a mile in the dark.

the cars aerodynamics may not be good because there is not much open space for air to get in,not sure if the pump can push through the IP if needed, but I'm sure they can be plumbed right to do what you want.

OK I have to ask.......why the 6.2,it is not a good performance motor, at least go with something that has a turbo on it...anything. my truck had one of these. I could have put it in a Chevette and it still would not get out of its own way. I am a firm believer in building stuff for my self, and thinking outside the box....sorry if it sounds like I'm dishing on you, but i am seriously confused here.

The reason is I want good fuel mileage without having to drive a stupid car. Also I know the electric pump won't push through the IP but it should push through the mechanical fuel pump. I already had the corvette with a tired 350 in it and this diesel will have more power than it and get probably 3x the mpg. I didn't want the turbo because it would be alot more work and might not even fit. This way I have a simple mechanical engine that has more power than the gas engine and will probably get 35mpg. And I love diesels and this is a very cheap swap. I've driven one ton pickups and suburbans with these engines and they had enough power for me. If I want to go fast I'll get on my Yamaha R1.

You probably would not have to run the oil cooler but I don't think you can just plug the lines off on the block you will probably have to put a tube between them. You can run both mechanical and electric pump. If you put the 6.2 in it n/a you can always add a turbo later.

Yeah i wondered if those lines needed to be circulating. I also had the same thoughts about the turbo. Later down the road if everything is working good and I have money I might add a turbo. Another thing I just ran into is removing the timing chain cover. I have all the bolts off but the cover is stuck, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Disregard the timing cover comment. I found the hidden bolt and got it off and already got it sandblasted.

Up 6.2 in a Corvette!!!

Hi, I don't mean to but in but I love the idea with the 6.2. I'm thinking to put one in my 79 firebird I just love the simplicity of them. Good mpg and they they run for ever.
