Default 6.5 lift pump rewire?

Hi, I was wondering if some one had an easy fix for the lift pump issue Im having
I have a 94 6.5 td and it just doent want to start right
first a little history new lp,ops, relay, fuel hoses ,filter ,ETC.
I know the 94-95 run the lp at start and under oil pressure and the 96 up run the lp during glow cycle so question is is there a fast way to get the lp to come on during glow. because it just starts real hard all the time but if I turn the lift pump on for just 2sec. it fires right up .I dont want to run a switch because I would have to tell evreyone about it I would like it to be automatic like 96 up trucks .I tried to hook it to a gp wire but that just made smoke after it got oil pressure.
thanks
R.

Default Here way to by pass

The first pic is of the OPS location. The second pic is of the OPS plug and the wire colors. The third pic is of the items I used to do the project. The fourth pic is of the wires cut and crimped.

The length of the extension wires were 24“, I removed the convoluted tubing from the OPS wires before I started cutting. my wire colors for the relay extension were :

Orange for the hot: I cut the orange wire from the OPS plug about 3” from the plug and tied in the orange extension wire. Crimped and shrink wrapped it.

Gray for the OPS plug: approximately 2.5” from the plug I cut the gray wire. The wire from the OPS plug I connected the gray extension wire. Crimped and shrink wrapped.

Light purple for the LP: on the cut wire going to the LP I connected the Purple wire. Crimped and shrink wrapped.

Brown for the ground: The brown ground wire is much shorter because it is just ran to the relay’s mounting screw.

My pics don’t show the shrink wrap installed on the wires (I thought I had took one but this was the time the grandson decided to interrupt me). The fifth pic is of the wires from the OPS re-loomed and the relay wires Loomed. I decided to mount the relay under the electric shroud pic # 6 on the passenger’s firewall pic # 7 . It seemed to be the most likely place to put it. Being that the factory saw fit to have already put holes there and the other relays were there as well. I mounted the ground with the same screw I mounted the relay with. Then replaced the shroud.

The relay is numbered and the extension wires hook to the relay in this order. #30 is the orange power wire (by the way this wire is hot with key off don’t let it ground out. Please don‘t ask how I know). #85 is the brown ground wire, #86 is the gray wire from the OPS and #87 is the purple wire to the LP.

The bosh relay number is 0-332-209-161.

That is how it is supposed to be.

On a 95 the LP relay is activated when the ignition is in start position and the oil pressure switch takes over power duty for the LP when the engine is running-that is why the LP lingers after shutdown while oil pressure bleeds off.

I would begin by looking for the fuel or air leaks in your fuel system-the filter housing is a place that commonly leaks fuel and when fuel leaks out there with the engine off air gets in and causes hard starts.

Iv also tried hooking 12v to the fuel shut off valve and jumping the lift pump relay so they were both open / runing, and tried starting it that way, it would start and die a few times and once running and hit the gas it would die off at 2k rpm,, I heard about rewiring it and that's what I was testing it for and the way the tests went I don't think that will work, and there was leaks in the fuel line from rust and used rubber gas line to fix it, and checked it over several times I don't see any leaks. And the engine codes are 17 18 35 36 54 73

It is time to start your own thread about this matter since it really has nothing to do with this thread.

By the way-those codes almost certainly indicate an IP replacement is in your future provided you have truly solved the fuel leak issues and cleared the codes since making repairs,if those are the returning codes.
