Default trans question

Can any of my brothers on here tell me, i bought an 86 chev 1ton with a 6.2 an a 4spd an the rear has 4:56's, so i have a 5spd trans, or 4spd with od, out of a 89 chev 1500 with a 4.3 motor, will this trans go behind my 6.2?? I think the od would help me with fuel mileage.

Default trans question

They are manual, the one in the truck now is ol granny gear 4 spd, n i have this overdrive one here out of an 89 1500 chev that had 4.3 in it, an want to know if the od one would work behind my 6.2.

well here is what I have been told:
It sounds like a nv3500. that should work. 4.3 had the same bellhousings as the V8s

Default pop goes the T????? ? not throwing salt

the horsepower numbers look real good but that diesel never came with that tranny, did it? if it did my bad and ignore the rest - - should hold up even in hard drivivg - - but when she goes, i imagine it will be in spectacular fashion. The answer to your question is, as you know: Tranny will bolt right up. you will probably find the plumbing you want off of a f&%$#%g F#!D

Default trans question

Hark7rider, thanks for the info, still not sure what to do, the granny tranny is in good shape n works fine, i was just thinkn mayb the od trans would help pick up fuel mileage out on the hiway, with them 4:56 gears in the rear. I haven't had a chance to really get the truck out on the road yet, cause of odds n ends im doin to it so i dont know what kinda mileage i'll get for sure. Thanks again guys
