1997 c3500 6.5, cranks by itself..help
I have a 97 chevy 6.5, it has been setting for about 2 months. I went to start it yesterday and nothing happened when I turned the key. I popped the hood, and twisted the battery cables with my hands. At times this has to be done because of a odd connection problem. When I moved the cable the engine started cranking by itself, without the key on. It did this for 45 sec while I was running to get a wrench to unhook the cables. It melted the lead in the positive cables before I could give them off. Since then I have taken the starter off to see if the solenoid had stuck and checked it( I work in a Parts store). It reads fine. Also the batteries check out fine. Any ideas? Thanks

 

I be looking for short between the +pos cable and wire that wire tell tell starter to start
