Default Fishing for help

Just joined up people have already learned some about the fuel system on 6.5. Checked LP all good. Air intake all good, next clean-up grounds on firewall. Truck is a "97" w/ 109,000 mi. The guy I bought it off had $3,000.00 work done on it and became overwhelmed He hasn't got all of the receipts. I can see new intake gasket. It has new PMD mounted on intake,"Heat-Sync" Assume that is not a bad thing. Truck is coding out, do not have diagnostic equipment. The symptoms are a lot like I have been reading about, drive fine for a while then out of nowhere lots of black smoke and loss of power. I let off accelerator then tromp on it comes right out of the fit. The truck has sat for a while maybe a year so I have run Power Service through two tank fills. It must be loading up for some reason can't know why. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Can see that IP is new or reman.I bought the truck so to use bio. Not interested in straight veggie conversion although have done one in past years.

i was just in maine for a college visit and they seemed like really nice people. i dont see why any autoparts store might let you use a code reader for free. i saw a lot of napas when i was there. by the way the pmd on the intake isnt a great setup. behind the bumper is the best or on the injection pump is the second best spot.
