Default Tank you,Crazy,Rican Dsl,Woody 35

Well guys,SHE IS RUNNING!! I promised that I would post my findings as well as my appreciation for everyones help, exspecialy Crazy,Rican diesel and Woody 35.Here it goe’s.
Sat.night I started to put together my finding,(Fuel PSI would drop from 10 lbs to 3 when starting ,no fuel to injecters, AC pulsed signal to fuel pump solenoid intermittent when cranking, batteries dying quikly, fuel to injection pump, and shutoff solenoid operating correctly but still no start.)
I proceeded to check voltages again to the PMD so I started at “A” pin on the harness(disconnected the PMD) which is the light green wire and it is the Fuel Pump Control signal from the PCM.
I grnd one side of the meter to the block ,and metered the A pin ,cranked motor,
And it read 1.7 to 2.3vdc but then it changed to -2.7 to -3.2!(it should read around 2.2vdc)
Next point I opened the 15pin connecter on the fire wall and moved to the PCM located behind the glove-compartment (passenger side) and removed it from its mount. The two pump control pts are C3 and D3 on the PCM connecter. I grounded one end of the meter to the steel support running under the PCM and probed behind D3 while connecter was still in and cranked engine, WHAM! A 1.7 to 2.3vdc reading (steady) I checked C3 with the same results (these wires tie together further in the ckt and are both light grn in color).I then went back to the 15 pin connecter located on the firewall and located the fuel pump D3 and C3 ctrl signals, I grounded the one meter lead to the block and probed
The D3 wire coming from the PMC cranked and got a -3.1 to -3.3dcv reading!!! MMM?
What the Hek! So I decided to move the ground to the steel support under the PCM and then probed D3 at the 15 pin connecter on the firewall and cranked WHAM! a steady 1.7 to 2.3 vdc, with C3 showing the same. I then started ohming out the block (remembering that one of the members mentioned about grounding) and found poor or to say the least, no good grounds. I got a grounding problem! I started checking by ohming all the grounding and I found, 1) The main grounding strap from the frame on psngr side to the rear of the engine was not even connected to the motor when I was feeling along the frame (last year I had a mechanic working on my truck because I didn’t have the time to do the work myself) 2) I also found the drvr side batt ground connection improperly grounded (could be why the batt was draining so Quick when I was cranking over the motor in my last thread)
3) while in the mode of nosing around I found the main inlet fuel line kinked going to the filter!!(remember the mechanic I mentioned erlier?? That was one of the things he said he had to replace last year!) After making all the corrections, I put everything back together an quickly (except the plenum mounted on top of intake manifold) tested for the voltage at the PMD connecter at light grn wire with PMD disconnected and grnded to the block, I cranked over motor, and WHAM! it read 1.7 to 2.3vdc steady! NOW THE BIG TEST!! I hooked PMD up and cranked over motor and WHAM!! she fired up,and while it was running I closed the 2 injecters that were cracked.(Iwas so happy, you would have thought I hit the Lotto!)
She fired off immediately,no hesitation! I ran it for a few minutes and then shut down.
I am now a happy camper (SO I THOUGHT) so I put the plenum back on and hook it up to the turbo charger and when I got done, I decided to start it again and IT WOULD NOT START!! I QUIKLY RAN TO THE BACK YARD AND SCREAMED!!
(My wife came out and thought I caught on fire)After beating my dog (just kidding) a few min I calmly went back to the truck (sounds like something we do with our wives or girlfriends) and I thought about the last thing I did was put on the plenum on,so I decided to disconnect both the high PSI sensor and the MAP sensor.I then cranked the engine and she immediatly started! I connected the PSI snsr, still running! Connected the MAP sensor, engine shut down! Bad MAP sensor also!
Well there you have it,I explained everything and the procedures for the injection pump control circuit hoping in will help someone else.
THANKS AGAIN GENTLMAN, I hope you will jump in on my future threads,I would love to hear from you agin!
Thanks again,
Big Joe.

im glad you got it figured out! there is a reason we try to mention grounds in wierd problems like this cause if they are not connected or dirty wierd stuff happens

Big Joe, I have read your posts and I'm really interested in info. I'm having problem getting fuel to injectors. I'm not as knowledgable and/or familiar with the terms and names of these components. I am trying to learn. One thing for sure, I have the same attitude as you, I"M GOING TO FIGURE THIS THING OUT. Give you some background:
I have a 93 6.5td, mechanical IP. I replaced head gasket, all went back together well. When I tried to start, no start. I thought I had air in system, I asked around and tried several different techniques to bleed air. About the third day and after buying new starter, I began to think I'm not getting fuel. So I began asking anyone who would listen, questions. I have spent hours on Diesel Bombers. I think I am beginning to understand, but I am having problem with terminology. Also, I think some of the parts I'm hearing about, don't apply to my truck. I'm really getting confused. I'm on the 5th or 6th day, and no closer to finding problem. After reading about your situation and final post, I'm finally getting a clearer picture of whats going on. I hate to ask you, but I'm so turned around, I really don't know where to start again. I have fuel to LP, but can't get fuel to injectors. I was going to take top off IP and check out solenoid. Was told I could remove it and try to start. My question is, if it does start, How do I shut it off? Sorry about the book, but I'm in need of HELP!!!! Thanks in advance.
