Default 1990 1500 6.2l Diesel stalls while driving.

Hello,

Can anyone help me, i just bought a 1990 1500 6.2l diesel, after many days of work shes up a running and will idle for hours and run.

now while driving she will cut out, when it comes to a stop I can crank the starter and it will turn over very fast but wont fire up.

After getting the truck home on a tow truck you turn the key and she fires up straight away.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

The first thing I would check is to make sure you have a good fuel filter. Then check to make sure your lift pump is running while the truck is running and that you are getting no air in the line.

Default diesel stalling

I changed the filter with a new one and bleed the system...no air in the system...the lift pump was replaced with a new one.

Default check return lines

Finally got around to looking at this truck again, okay the inlet line to the fuel filter was leaking, i also had a loses positive connection on the aux battery, and lastly I also pulled a code 33 off the computer.

anyone know what code 33 is?

Iam hoping that this will finally get this truck up and running.

Default Map Sensor

switch the MAP sensor out with a new one, still comes up with code 33........some of the vacuum pipes are loses. It looks like the last owner mixed them all up.

The ecm on your truck does for the most part nothing. The only thing it does is run the cruse control and egr as far as I know and should have no bearing on how the truck runs. If you remove all of the lines and the vacuum pump at worst you should just have a check engine light that does nothing come on.
