I have a 97 C3500 that I purchased it is a 6.5 Turbo with a bad bottom end. So the previous owner said I have been told and found info online that the motor in the truck is not a 97, either way I also purchased a complete running 96 6.5 Non Turbo. The previous owner of the truck said that he had redone the top end and then the bottom end went out.
I was thinking at the very least using the 96 as a short block, but the least I have to change over the better. But I will change what I need to make it right.
My question is : What all do I have to change ?

Well once have the engine side by side you see what have to change i know the intake,exhaust manifolds,and all the accessories on the front engine from 97 will have to be put on the 96
