Default Starting strange

For about 2 weeks now everytime i start my truck it starts strange. when i start it, it bumps up to about 500rpm then slowly rising to about 650 like normal. this is where the weird part starts. it then continues to rev up about another 100 rpm and then begins to sputter/chug. This only happen on cold starts (-10 ish) im confused. i thought it may be i cracked the block= fluid in and possibly improper combustion. but now not sure kuz it used now coolant. glow plugs are all brand new so im not sure. my other question is would too much diesel additive do that. if not then something is going. drives and everything else fine. just cold start.

that right there could be one of the problems how much coolant are you using

my other question is would too much diesel additive do that.
additive should not do that if anything should make it run better

i ment to say it used no coolant. it could be the plugs if im really unlucky. it always puffs out a bit of black then goes to whiteish kuz its cold out. its only really pumped out smoke a bunch once. smells like diesel. no antifreeze smell. i havent started it yet today so ill see if its still doing and and try and explain best i can what its doing.

i do about 90% of the time. unless its only off for like an hour or 2 and outside temp. How long can a 6.5 last with a cracked block or using coolant.

not long

wouldn't try driving very far all if you think crack block

if you think that what wrong i would be pulling it apart and see what can be save

drives and everything else fine. just cold start.

if it drive fine and not loosing coolant and and getting any smoke i wounldn't think crack block just cold start problem

still not sure on the using coolant yet still might be hardly using. but it has the pressurizing after cold start. havent started it yet. just plugged in. unfortunate thing is here its about -30C and im a student so i dont have a whole lotta time or money. im maybe considering a 6bt or 4bt swap as soon as summer comes and try and do it on the cheap

So just checked fluid on level surface. has gone down quite a bit. about an inch or so. as for starting. that didnt really workout for me, too cold i think. starter didnt kick in first time, then every other time it turned once or twice and kicked out. finally started followed by a fair amount of sputtering which i assume is from the excess fuel so cant really judge if its burning coolant. exhaust smelled as per usual and it ran great after she warmed up a bit. very confused.

Sounds like air in fuel line possibly. Check all the return lines. If not soft replace. Check the T-valve as well. Mine acted some what like that come to find out the T-valve had a loose clamp and would allow air to get in.

that may be it. ill check, the only thing i cant rule out in my head as just some 6.5 little issues adding up is the pressurizing or the surge tank after cold start. does anyone else know this to be true of cracked blocks.
