Question c-j heads not matching 6.2

would that be the only reason why one exhaust smokes and not the other

No. You could have a injector bad or not matching the other side, or some other problem like valves not sealing or a internal engine problem.

i think its a bad injector too my son says the smoke clears during the coarse of the day
