Default Lookin at a 1995 Duramax

I've been lookin into getting a duramax and i kinda like the older body styles. There is a 95 Chevy Silverado with 111,000 miles on it, I've heard from a friend that this era druamax was a huge piece of crap and made little to no power and wasn't known for its reliability. Can anyone shed some light on this engine?

Thanks

Pmds where bad on them. For the time they where right on par as power is concerned. They will never make the power of a new diesel but its not hard to reach 300+ hp. As far as reliability the only real problem with them is the pmd relocate it to the bumper and it won't be a problem any more.

duramax is a gm diesel engine from 2001-present. 95 gm diesel engine was a 6.5. relocate the pmd to the bumper, get some stainless steel oil coller lines, and a fluiddampr hamonic balancer and you should have a good running truck. sure there might be other problems since its a 15 year old truck but that covers the major issues of the engine.
