Yea you should have keep the 93 best 6.5 block rock solid db2 pump and all mechanical. The sensor in the manifold reads how many psi there are in it and when it go's over 14 it shuts the injection pump down killing the engine until it returns to normal. You can find the sensor on the upper intake. it is a square box with a plug coming in from the bottom of it. You will not be able to go over 14 psi without ether taking the sensor out but leaving it hooked up and plugging the hole or running a different ecm. Have you looked at putting water injection on it from what I hear it is a must for heavy pulling on these. Also I don't know your budget but there is a place that makes turbos for these trucks I don't know how to post a link I suck at this stuff but it is a A-Team turbo and I hear they really bring them alive.

Check out my pics of my 93! It was destroyed a few months ago, I loved it and this 95 dually was in my 5g price range. I will post pics tommow as I just got back online tonite with the bombers. I am interested in upgradeing my turbo and will check out the Ateam for sure but might wait till the next block. This rig has over 400k on er so I think I will stick will stock numbers. At 400k consistency is the key! I averaged 10psi as perchaced and have no issues execpt alittle more blow by than I like.

Dang your lucky to still be here. 400k I'm kinda in the same boat with my 95 it has 300k on it at about 200k I thought most of the life was out of it and decided not to do anything to it 100k later it keeps clicking along. The truck still runs like the day I bought it and I hardly ever touch the truck. With a wife and kid I needed the ext. cab and bought a 98. Planing on doing all the upgrades to it if my wife will let me spend the money. It will probably just blow up thanks to gm engineering and the 506 block. I think they did what ever they could to screw up the 6.5.

thats what i thought but thats only at 12 psi sustained. you only need a little spike of like 18 psi which the computer will not defuel because its a spike to blow the headgaskets.

well I made the turbo master out of junk in the garage, cost nothing! I noticed a huge difference! But... before, using the working vacume system I was averageing 10 or 11 psi at full peddel and 2 or 3psi cruising, after the TM 11 or 12psi pinned and 4 or 5psi cruising( at about 110kph. do you think its a bit too much to cruise at? I was not able to repair the pyro guage. I drove the truck 300k to edmonton from calgary today had had no issues. I also upgrading my FSD, moved it to a heatsink(on the intake for now untill I have time to lenthen the harness) and changed the resistor to a number 9. I like the extra jam but do not want to blow it up! I should just fix the pyro

thats the only trade off with the turbomaster. you cruise at higher boost numbers which mean less fuel efficency. but its pretty reliable

Have you changed the ecm or do you pull a lot of heavy loads? If not the pyro is probably not necessary unless you just want to fell good while you go down the road. Your not going to blow it up with them numbers I have seen them handle more than that and I am not even 100% sure the stock turbo can make enough boost to blow them up. I have seen a few of them clamped shut and they just run up to about 20 psi then lose it and drop down.

Why would higher boost mean lower mpg? You haven't changed the fuel to the engine and if any thing you leaned it out and it will run cooler.

Sweet! good to know! I found it was great on the highway, more responsive, as for economy my 330 km drive at about 110k took 50 litters to fill back up, thats an improvement since my recent upgrades. I haul a truckmound camper and tow a utility trailer, about 3500lbs max.

computer reads boost and matches fuel to it. works good for towing though because the computer is constiently lowering boost and upping it because of the throttle inputs so with the spring it stays pretty constant so mpg improves
