So, I did a remote PMD/FSD convertion. Upon removing the intake manifold I broke the plasic vacume lines and did damage to the connector. Of course I have no boost. I would like to just make up a mechanicley controled wastegate. Can I leave vacume pump on for the time being? Or any ideas on eliminating the whole wires and plastic crap and just plumbin it in direct to the vacume pump? I am in Calgary Alberta and its still winter conditions, shop to small to accomadate dually! Stupid plasic clips dont stand a chance here, they gotta go!

Do you have a s code engine with egr or a f code with out egr?

Your welcome. I see its a 1 ton it should have a f code in it. You can take everything off and leave the pump but you will probably be able to hear it unless you cap it off or something. The only thing the pump runs on a f is the waste gate.

Do you think you would need a boost gauge or could you just go till it defuels then back it off a little? I was just wondering what you thought because it defuels at 14psi which I know that wouldn't be enough to hurt it.

I would never risk overheating the cylinders! I do have a boost gage, tranny temp gage and a broken pyro guage that I will repair before doing the TM. What would tell the turbo to defuel if you remove all the stuff that's suppose to detect that?

There is a sensor in the intake that detects manifold pressure. I would run the boost gauge just so in-case something went goofy. I you run to much turbo it will not run hot it will blow a head gasket most likely.

Heads are my main concern, I have replaced them before on a previous 6.5, the cost was huge even doing it myself. I would like to keep as much as I can manually controlled to maximize reliabilty. I will be driving through the rocky mountains with a loaded truck mounted camper towing a 3000lbs trailer. I am used to relying on guages to control foot. Between a boost, pyro, trans guage I understand the mechanical operations but as far as the computer stuff goes how does that sensor on the manifold prevent serious damage? I guess I dont trust it, I miss my 93, I would never have any of these concerns.
