Was this a gas truck? If so take the hot wire that ran to the distributer to the injection pump and if you have the glow plugs wired up every other sensor should be the same. The only thing I am not sure of is the fast idle I always left it off when converting form gas to diesel and held the throttle open for a minute and called it good.

No it's not a hard swap. The trans will bolt up. You will need to put a diesel torque converter in it and you may need to change the governor.

Depends which trans it has in it but some of them need the governor changed to change the shift points. If it was me I would just change the torque converter and see how it drives.
