Is this a cam position sensor or a engine speed sensor? (red circle) It's on a non turbo mechanical 6.5 in a p-30 chassis.

i know n/a 6.5s get the tach reading off the oil pump in the back of the engine opposed to trucks getting it off the alternator and since thats the back of the engine im guessing thats it. not sure though.

I would as well assume that it is a engine speed sens. being that it is driven off the cam like that.

No tach on my p-30. I'm guessing that it's needed to shift the trans as there is no computer for the engine.
