anyone know the difference between the pre-2000 and the 2000 chevy 6.5 turbo diesel? I can't seem to get performance items for my 2000 but they're all over for pre 2000 and of course the duramax. What makes it different?

 

in 2000 they dropped the compression a little bit to the low 20's. and they reflashed the computer to make a little more power. i think it was 220 hp and 440 ft lbs. everything should fit off a 1999 it just wont feel as much as a gain because your making more power. 2000 was a crazy year for GM trucks. they had the gmt-400 hd trucks still being made and the gmt-800 1/2 ton trucks were in there second year. gmt-800 hd trucks were beginning to be made and there was no diesel option though. i just think aftermarket companies dont want customers to be confused

 

You sure about that? Also, I know those power numbers are off... I don't think any 6.5 truck off the line had more then 200 hp at the crank, although I could be wrong.

And 99 to 00 the addons should work. They both have the DS4 pump, obdII, same sensors.. etc...

 

i cant find any power ratings but i swear that they dropped compression. a dp member with a 2000 model got heaths gle and didnt feel much power increase at all and we had a long discussion about it. gm at the time was trying to compete a little with the powerstroke and 24 valve cummins which were putting out 250 hp plus and 500 ft lbs torque. a little more than our trucks. dont take these numbers to heart but i think there close.
