Default 1993 6.5TD

Hello to all,

I had the valve cover leak problem, and had many of you help me, and give me good advice. I do appreciate more than you know, and after my screw up, or attempt to fix the problem was failure, I step aside with knowledge and great appreciation of fellow professional mechanics. I will be taking my truck to my diesel shop here in Western Washington called H $ H Diesel, tomorrow so they can fix those pain in the *** valve covers.
I did have a second car, but it took a dump last friday, leaving me laughing my *** off, because its so ironic and funny. So I dont have time nor transportation for me to take time and redo my amazing repair, . I will have to pay but sometimes thats all we can do, if I had a house and another car, I might have attempted this repair again with more knowledge and patience. But I do appreciate you help, and kind words, maybe few years down the line when economy picks up, and find employment than I could get my favorite diesel truck which is 1993-1998 Dodge Cummins 5 speed. But for now I hope my girl keeps running with no major hick ups. Thanks to all and good luck to you. Fellow diesel fan.

One thing I learned about them older GM diesels, whether it be the 5.7, the 6.2, or the 6.5 is don't use gaskets!! Right stuff or the black ATV silicone are the only ones that hold up to diesel engine oil. Also, don't tighten the covers down until it sets for a few hours.

hello,

Again thanks a lot for all the help, that you guys provided here. I got the valve covers fixed yesterday at the diesel shop, and my mecahnic showed me the old valve covers he said i dont care who had done them, they were going to leak anyway. They were so destorted and had barely any flat surfaces left. He found some nice used once and swapped them out, he painted and guess it did cost me money but I feel better. If anything leaks I know Ican take it back. I have some cosmetic work done to her, inside of the engine bay, I'll try to have pics redy if you guys want to see it. Nothing special, but cleaner.
