i would get the truck but the impala is going to be more reliable unless you replace some stuff on the truck. pmd, oil cooler lines, vacuum boost system and anything else that needs replacing. i can tell you that truck is overpriced.

it should be somewhere between 4500 to 5000. i payed 5800 for my truck which did have 140,000 miles but my truck has a upgraded cooling system that was new for 1997 and the newer interior, plus it was super clean with almost no dents and no rust on the body. tons on the frame though.

this truck wont have close to the power a duramax has or your dads 12 valve but it makes up for it in the sounds it makes. indirect injection idle sounds bad *** compared to a duramax imho. plus everyone looks at you when you idle up to a stop sighn. let us know if you want anymore info

BTW those running boards wont last long on the farm

I know its overpriced.I'm sure they can be jewed down on their price.Oh my dad owns a 2001 24Valve Cummins.Thinking I could possibly buy the truck on a cash deal and keep the Regal.Use the 6.5L for worktruck not alot of pulling. Then eventually trade the 6.5L for a Duramax.

yeah i forgot what your dad had. i remember something about a 12 valve and your dad on dieselpower a long time ago. not many people are in the market for 120K half tons from the mid 90's and especially diesel ones. i know my truck was sitting on the lot for at least 3 months because it was on the internet since mid november and i bought it january 31. they dropped the price 2k in mid january and i went and made my deal. i asked the guy and he said there had been miminial interest in it.

all im saying is offer the guy 3k cash or something like that and start from there. take a test drive and look for problems. point out the problems of the truck and you might get outta there with a sweet deal on this truck

Sounds like a pretty good plan to me.I don't have quite that much cash on hand to do that though;however I would consider it if I could get them down to $3,000.I would only offer 3,500 at max.

Otherwise there is Duramax closer to me but it has a salvaged title.

Only problem is that it was a rollover truck and the pass. side is beat up pretty bad and I don't have any idea what it looks like now.It is in the running though and might be a better option than the 6.5L K1500.

the 6.5 truck is gonna cost 2k to get to good running order if isnt running good already. injectors, glowplugs, relocate pmd, oil cooler lines, upgraded cooling system. plus anything else major wrong with it. duramax i have no idea with the damage

Yeah its a shame that the only trucks I can afford are either gas powered or older diesels or rollover vehicles.

welcome to the club. the passat was a gift for graduating high school and not having a vehicle of my own all 3 years of high school. the truck is my first vehicle purchase. if i had any money my truck and passat would have some go fast parts but i dont so they remain stock.

yeah most trucks that are 9 to 18 years old do have problems. and with the right knowledge and relocation of the pmd/fsd most of those "problems" will go away.
