Default erratic power

My buddy has a 97 6.5L that just had the injection pump and vaccum lines replaced. It'll run really good sometimes, pulls pretty good, and then it just goes dead, totally gutless. It runs clean once it warms up a bit on start up,and doesn't use much oil.Seems to happen a little more once the engine is fully warmed up,but doesn't seem to be temperature related.

Yeah it has the 'upgraded' finned PMD.We figured out a solution to the problem.Drive it till it drops, then 12 valve it.

Yeah, they're actually a pretty good engine. It turns out the battery posts and cables were corroded, making it run weird.Cleaned er up,runs good again. The truck has 400 k,and has been thoroughly abused most of it's life. And it still pulls a 10,000 lb trailer at 100 km/hr at half throttle,3rd gear.(level ground).Still doesn't touch the ol 12 valver tho!

just to let you know though is that the finned Pmd on the intake manifold is still getting too hot. you need to move it somewhere else like one of the bumpers or frame rail
