Default Optical sensor

In kind of a weird position where i bought a truck with a standyne injection pump on it that never started and ran. Pulled the pump off and installed it in my s10 and im getting code 18. cant clear it. truck starts and runs in back-up fuel mode. checked wires, connectors, threw my scope on it and it "appears" the optical sensor is working when i back probe at the ecu, tried a different ecu that i have for ***** n giggles out of my 1 ton. Anyone out there have a pump laying around they would be willing to split with a optical sensor?

ok swapping the optical sensor has code 18 gone. running rough and lots of white smoke so i must have it in there in a retarded position. anyone know which way to slide the optical sensor to advance injection timing? optical bump says to move it towards the passenger side but are they advancing or retarding timing with that? i feel like turning the whole pump towards the drivers side advances it so maybe going towards passenger side with sensor retards timing?
