Default 6.5 Dies and Restarts

Hey guys,

I have a 97 chevy 6.5 with an automatic (in case that opens up any other problems). It has about 145k miles, and has ran perfect up until the last thousand or so. Some days it will drive perfect, with no issues at all. Other times it will die 10 times in a mile. When it dies, it acts just like you shut off the key: no stuttering, just instantly not running. The weird thing is that it will always start right back up, no coughing or anything.

Here's what we have already fixed:

New lift pump
New Oil Pressure Switch
New Fuel Filter.

Has anyone experienced this before? Could it be the PMD, or does that generally create no-start issues?

Thanks!

It's almost twenty years old so first thing you will want to do is check and clean all grounds especially the one on the rear passenger side cylinder head, bad grounds can make you throw money at these trucks replacing parts that you don't need and if you didn't use A/CDelco ops (oil pressure switch) you wasted your money and probably didn't fix anything.

Sounds like a pmd. Where is it currently mounted?

A new one needs to be mounted away from the engine. Best place is behind the front bumper on an extension harness and heat sink.
