Default Improved towing

Any ideas on something to improve my shift points or power on my 97 6.5 half ton specifically on hills. manual waste gate, 3.5 inch straight, exhaust k&n intake, heath diesel lift pump, relocated pmd with heat sync, other than that stock as far as I know, fuel settings seem conservative based on the egt never went above 600 even in the hardest pull. Is it worth turning up the fuel? Or any other simpler tricks I may have missed? I pull my trailer thousands of miles at a time and speed drops like a rock as soon as it downshifts on a hill somewhat of an aggravation for me

I'd go 4" diamond eye exhaust, it comes with a really nice DP, HX40 and a Heath towing tune to compliment it.

What kind of mileage is on it? Might be time for some stock injectors-NO marine or chinese crap, and 40hp injectors don't exist, marketing gimmick.

What gearing do you have?

4:10 gearing and I am looking at a heath diesel tune and Bosch injectors but until the price of oil goes back up I can't afford to do any more modification (my job security
Being directly linked to it), it' got 230k right now

The sticker inside the glovebox says gt4 which should be 3:73 if the rear end hasn't been changed

I personally haven't been happy with my kojo tune, the torque converter kicks in at around 42mph... horrrible for pulling my skid loader, constantly pulling the shifter down to compensate. I told pat I hauled with it...

Complain and get it corrected-it is a custom tune for you so get it the way you want it.

most reports are that KOJO is good to deal with about such matters.

only 600* on the egts!? My 6.5 suburban will max out my egt gauge if i insist pulling my race car trailer. should be able to do 1000-1100 when you need it, if you are only down at 600* you either have a fuel supply problem or your stock tune is way more conservative than i thought they were. get a tune! you'll love it!
