Question '91 6.2L VIN J Oil Pan Gasket Advice

Hello all!

I am attempting to change the oil pan gasket on my 6.2L VIN J engine, in a 1991 C2500 2WD manual. I have already loosened the pan, removed both motor mount bolts, and the upper fan shroud. I need to raise the front of the engine a couple inches to clear the pan, but it won't budge. When I try to lift the engine I end up lifting the whole front of the truck. I have NOT removed the starter, but have read that some people do that in this case, and the Chilton manual doesn't say to do anything with the tranny. Any ideas what could be keeping my engine stuck to the frame?

Thanks in advance!

I would think taking out the trans mount bolts would be necessary.
