Default 6.5 turbo waste gate sticks open

My waste gate has been getting stuck open . so I looked into it and I see guys building these spring loaded turbomaster things . they talk about 2 or 3 pounds of boost and then cranking it up to 11 pounds . now is this tention on the spring or is that boost psi ?? Factory turbo on mine produses at least 15 psi because it burys my gague there. I have a chip , cold air , 4 inch straight pipe , 3 inch crossover pipe egt gague and boost gague . Not that it really makes a difference . do these turbo master set ups work good ? Or am I gonna blow my bottom end out ?

The turbomaster design (personally You'd be better off to make one than buy the factory one) works and is a must if you're playing with your fuel but it takes a little playing around to dial it in just right. But you wouldn't be on here if you weren't willing to tinker. If you turn it up too high it has a safety mechanism built into your boost pressure sensor (the one that your computer reads and I'm not sure that's the right name) that will put you into a limp mode so you can't do any damage. I've done it quite a few times on my 97 you have to shut it off and restart to clear it and go back to normal operation. Overall fairly safe. Mine shuts me down if I hold 15 psi very long at all. And if anyone knows how to bypass it I'd love to know how

Your chip might effect the safety though if you're already burying into 15 psi with a factory waste gate controller.

you would be better off finding the vacuum leak,or replacing the boost solenoid/vac pump-which ever is faulty.

I would check the vacuum at the waste gate and the waste gate solenoid valve.
