Look in the glove box for RPO codes you have a G80 full floater rear end the next number will be the gear ratio I believe and you can decode it here.http://www.performancetrucks.net/for...-codes-502933/

It is a 3.73. How do I keep an eye out on Transmission Temp?

Also, do I need to add any fuel additive at any point with this engine and truck?

Well ya need to get a trans temp gauge kit and either install the sender into a test port on the trans, or weld a bung onto the trans pan and install the sender there (thats the most popular). But, the most accurate is in a test port.

Also, you can add walmart (super-tech blue container) 2-stroke tcw-3 engine oil into your fuel tank to add lubricity to your fuel. Your IP will love that, and live longer. You can add a ratio of 1/2 qt to 1 full qt to a full tank of fuel. Or, you can use Power Service Diesel Kleen (gray bottle) to your fuel. It also adds lubricity and cleans your injectors. There are other fuel additives out there, but those are the only ones I've used for over 12 years now.

Fuel additive is a good idea because today's diesel is much drier than it was back when these engines were designed. 2 stroke oil works good but look for the ashless kind. Trans temp, EGT, boost, and fuel pressure are the basic things you'll want to monitor while towing.
